Our founding fathers were men of faith. Men who appealed to the Supreme Judge of the world. (aka THE LORD OUR GOD) Remember to pray for our leaders today. Ultimately God is in charge, not them. We need to pray that they would make decisions by seeking out the Lord’s will and not their own. Let’s use this holiday to spark a flame that will shine so brightly that all will notice and give God the Glory.

I hate bugs, but I think I hate bug spray more. I can not stand the way it smells, or rubbing it (gasp!) all over my kids, who are more than likly going to be tired but have to have a bath thanks to the spray. I really like the bracelets that Shawnea posted about before, but I thought I might give this a try as well. It looks like it could be good for clipping to a stroller to keep the bugs away from the sweet baby. Whatever your plans are, have a safe, fun, and bug-free time celebrating!

If you want to pick before it gets to hot, head on over at 9:30 AM to meet group 1. If you want to pick later, group two will be going at 10:30. I have seen advertisements for the Kindle, but thought I would not like it very much. I thought of it as a small laptop, and I don’t love reading on a laptop. However, my friend had one this weekend and I totally fell in love with it. The device is tiny and easy to hold, and you turn pages with the push of a button–great for reading on the go. It can hold up to 300,000 (or more) books, and the “books” are 1/2 the price of what they would cost in the store. It is noting like a laptop–it is printed, electronic text so the technology is different (those are Tyler’s words, not mine.) I love books, so I don’t think I would ever buy one to replace all books, but if it became a little more affordable, I would love to have one. Check it out on Amazon–what do you think?
We enjoyed a few days at the lake this weekend with some friends who have a house on Bugs Island Lake. The kids loved swimming and riding on the boat–Sawyer jumped off the dock like a wild-man, Addy tubed, and Evan water-skied. We also enjoyed some fresh fish and some smores–what could be better than that?! Here are some pictures–sorry, there are a ton!
I think I might of posted an article similar to this before, but as a former injured cheerleader, I thought it was worth sharing. Check this out: The Most Dangerous Sport–Cheerleading. I think the reason why there are so many accidents and injuries is because things are not being done correctly–the coaches and the cheerleaders are not doing things properly because they lack the training. Certainly cheerleading can be safe if done properly. If you have a budding cheerleader, pay close attention to safety measures in place, whether your child is on the top or the bottom of the pyramid (which can quickly become a pile.) I was on the top (a “flyer”) and while it was super fun, I wonder when it ever became a good idea to toss a girl a few feet into the air? I am pretty sure that the VHSL (the ruling body for high school athletics in Virginia) passed a rule that pyramids could not be more than one level high in Virginia. Might make you sleep a little bit easier at night….
